BOARD OF MISSION IN IRELAND
HOME & IRISH MISSION
Sligo Presbyterian Church – Revd Alan Mitchell
Praise and Prayer for:
- Give thanks that Sligo Gospel Choir celebrated its first year with an open sing-a-long night in our church, where they meet weekly.
- They led the praise at our Harvest Thanksgiving Festival on Sunday 23 October at 7.30 pm. Revd Molly Deatherage, minister in the Ballina group of churches, was the special speaker.
- Pray for the parents (no longer living together) of a lovely seven-year-old girl seriously ill with leukaemia in Sligo General Hospital. The mother in her own words said she didn’t believe anything, but was happy for me to pray for her daughter. She was in an isolation ward; I was just able to stand inside the door and I looked over at one of the most beautiful children you could wish to see. She smiled, and I explained to her what I was going to do. I told her about Jesus and His love for children and prayed for her healing.
- Please pray for Poppy, now in the Children’s Hospital in Crumlin, that she will make a full recovery and that her parents will not only come to believe in God, but also find a way of reconciling their differences so that this lovely child can enjoy the blessings of parents.
- Pray for an outreach evening to be held on Monday 31 October in the Chinese restaurant in Bundoran, from where the owners travel faithfully every Sunday to worship with us.
- As well as enjoying Chinese food we pray that many locals will come at the owner’s invitation to share in this outreach and fellowship evening.

- Please pray for our new Exploring Discipleship Course which began on 16 October.

SPECIAL EVENTS
“Getting Your Kids Through Church Without Them Ending Up Hating God”
Every year thousands of young people leaving the church turn their back not on God but on something else.
On Thursday 3 November Rob Parsons from Christian charity Care for the Family will be addressing this important topic in the Waterfront Hall, Belfast.
With music from Phatfish and drama from Saltmine Theatre Company, this event will be an evening at which the entire church can seek God’s heart on this vital issue and be inspired, challenged and equipped to take steps that will save generations of young people from being lost to the church.
For further information and booking go to www.gettingyourkidsthroughchurch.org.uk or telephone 028 9265 8050.
