‘Global Insight Conference’ With Martin Goldsmith Saturday 15 October 2011,
7pm Lisburn Baptist Church
We are delighted to have as our special guest, Martin Goldsmith who will bring Biblical ministry and mission insight at our Conference event. This Saturday evening conference is designed to be of interest to those who do not know us at AIM already. We wish to provide some level of global insight and understanding of current mission matters, as well as to be informative on Africa. It will be a particular pleasure to welcome home Steve and Lynsey Auld, just returned from their ‘TIMO Team’ in Madagascar.
Much appreciated by the AIM family here, as well as by their home congregation at Elmwood Presbyterian Church, by the rugby fraternity and by so many others! We look forward to them sharing some of their experiences with us.
Please note the 7pm start time.
Lisburn Baptist Church is very easy to find, with excellent parking. Information on how to get there is provided below. We look forward to this event, and to others during the week before.
Details of some of these are outlined below. With best wishes, Alan Cousins
Martin Goldsmith - author, former missionary with OMF, senior member of staff at All Nations and now retired. Spends his time mostly ministering internationally, with student and missions conferences especially. of Jewish descent, has particularly helpful Biblical insight within his ministry and especially in relating the Gospel cross-culturally. Most respected missiologist.
Steve & Lynsey Auld - served at Elmwood Presbyterian Church, Lisburn where Steve was Youth Worker. Steve had a widely appreciated youth and student ministry. Then, they spent two years in Madagascar where they worked with a ‘TIMO Team’, one of AIM’s structured and strategic outreaches to unreached peoples. They will spend a year at home, before embarking on further theological education at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, where Don Carson is one of the lead educators. We support them with our prayers, as they look to the Lord’s purposes for what lies beyond that point.

• A short biography on Martin:
I come from a German Jewish family, but was born and bred in Britain except for a few years in Bermuda as a youngster. I became a Christian through a miracle when aged 15, but came into life-changing evangelical faith when aged 20 at university. Professionally I was a Russian Interpreter, studied Russian in the navy and then Russian and German at Oxford University with further studies in Russian Political Thought (1825-1917). After theological studies in Bristol I went to S.E.Asia with OMF 1960-1970. We worked in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and South Thailand. This was largely among Muslims, but also I pastored a Presbyterian Church in Malaysia and worked in a training ministry in the large fast-growing churches of Sumatra, Indonesia. In Malaysia we worked not only with Muslims, but also Chinese religions, Hinduism and Sikhism. Then we taught at All Nations Christian College full-time for 24 years before going full-time into a wide travelling ministry for the last 17 years (but still doing a little at All Nations as Associate Lecturers). I am married to Elizabeth with three married children and seven grandchildren. Elizabeth and I are both authors of various books.
