On Thursday 16 of June I attended the funeral of Tom Daye a member of Church Committee in Raffrey Presbyterian Church and a friend of mine.
Tom was a faithful and reliable Christian man who had a great love for the Boy's Brigade and especially for his Junior Section boys.
Among the many memorable things about the service was the opening hymn.
It was written by Tom to express his faith, confidence and hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. It was his testimony of the grace of Christ in his life.
With the permission of the family I am reproducing the words here not only to be read but also to be used.
If you use this hymn, are blessed by it do let me know and I will pass your comments on to the family
The tune is the Isle of Innisfree
'I Know the Son of God'
(Tune: Isle of Innisfree)
I know the Son of God, he is my Saviour
And I just know there’s truth in what he says.
God’s only Son came down to earth to free us
And give us all an everlasting life.
Stretch out your hands, direction he will give you
Stretch out your hands, he’ll show you the right way.
For he’s the light that shines through every darkness,
When come the night at end of every day.
I love the name of Jesus Christ my Saviour,
Who died to wash away my every sin.
I know that I will go to God in heaven
When Jesus comes to take me to my home.
Repeat last two lines in closing verse.
I know that I will go to God in heaven
When Jesus come to take me to my home.
