A Thought for Easter.

 

Titus 2:11

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people

 God loving ... God giving

 
Justification is a gift of God's sheer grace, not a reward for any merit or works of ours.  For God's 'grace' is his spontaneous generosity, his free and unmerited favour, his gracious kindness to the undeserving.  Grace is God loving, God stooping, God coming, God giving.

Do you ever face an impossible situation? The early church certainly did. Herod’s reign of terror and persecution intensified.  Many were arrested, James was murdered and Peter imprisoned.  This was a church under pressure.

I am right there with the circumcised believers. It is one thing to have foreigners visit and sing some of their songs. Or for us to send missionaries to them. But for goodness sake do they actually have to come and get under our feet when we are trying to do God’s work here?

Most of us like to have things as easy as possible.  We want as little trouble in life as we can get.  We don’t like circumstances to move beyond our control or cause disturbance to our plans. Ease and comfort don’t last forever. Circumstances change.
